Koch snowflake dielectric resonator antenna with periodic circular slots for high gain and wideband applications

This paper presents a novel wideband Koch snowflake DRA with array of circular slots. The use of periodic slots shifts the resonant frequency due to inward material perturbation on the fractal DRA. It further reduces the effective dielectric constant of the DRA which increases the impedance bandwidth of DRA. Moreover, the bandwidth is further increased by grounding one of the slots. The Proposed antenna offers a bandwidth of 74.19% (3.9GHz-8.5 GHz). Grounding improves the gain of the antenna and is above 7dBi throughout the entire bandwidth. The efficiency of the antenna is above 85% in the bandwidth of operation.
