Infrared image enhancement algorithm based on Type-II Fuzzy Sets

This paper puts forward an enhancement algorithm for infrared images based on type-Ⅱ fuzzy sets. Firstly,the image is preprocessed according to the pixels'space correlation and then mapped into type-II fuzzy feature plane based on Ostu threshold. In succession,the transformed image is enhanced by different rules and the results are fused. After type reduction and de-fuzzy operation on the enhanced type-II fuzzy feature plane,the final image is obtained. The experiments on different infrared images show that the proposed method is an effective contrast enhancement algorithm.
