Metamodeling process supports the effort of creating flexible process models. The purpose of process models is to document and communicate processes and to enhance the reuse of processes. Thus, processes can be better taught and executed. Results of using metamodel process are an increased productivity of process engineers and an improved quality of the models they produce. However, most useful metamodels are activity-oriented, and the required concepts of safety lifecycle, such as validation, can not be easily modeled through these metamodels. In this paper, we propose a safety-oriented process metamodel to support all the requirements of safety control. As a proof of concept, we examine a process model that has several safety lifecycle requirements: the IEC 61508 safety lifecycle Vmodel standard.
