In order to evaluate the performance of water jet nozzle, the throw length and scattering phenomenon should be investigated. In this study, the effect of geometrical configuration of the inserted plug tip of the water jet nozzle on its performance was numerically investigated using the commercial code, ANSYS CFX ver. 17.1. Three different types of tip configuration of the inserted plug were considered: conical, convex and concave. The throw length was measured by the distance of water streamline and the scattering phenomenon was evaluated by the area range of sprayed water. Results of the velocity distribution and streamline were graphically depicted.
