Reduced timing jitter of two-section 1.55 /spl mu/m laser diodes under optimized gain-/loss-switching regime at multi-GHz rates

Pulse-to-pulse timing jitter less than 0.5 ps was obtained at 5 GHz repetition rate with two-section 1.55 /spl mu/m laser diodes in loss-switching regime thanks to the optimization of bias conditions.
