Fingerprint with Particle Filtering for Positioning based on MDT

This work proposes a general positioning framework by combining Radio Frequency (RF) fingerprinting with particle filter using the measurements collected by Minimization of Drive Testing (MDT), which has been specified as a general procedure to collect measurements as well as positions in Long Term Evolution (LTE). The focus of this research is to understand how positioning accuracy is changed by using particle filter on top of the fingerprinting algorithm. Performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated with the measurements that are collected using MDT in real LTE network deployments. The results of this study indicate that the positioning accuracy can be greatly improved by combining fingerprinting with particle filter.
