B-scan ultrasonography in ophthalmology.

Abstract Ninety-two patients with various ocular and retro-orbital abnormalities have had orbital B-scanning carried out using the Nuclear Enterprises Diasonograph 4102. Using the 5 MHz transducer and a simple direct water bath, satisfactory results have been obtained in a wide variety of pathological conditions in the lens, vitreous and retroorbital structures. Several illustrations are shown which demonstrate that standard ultrasonic equipment can be used successfully for ophthalmic investigation.
