Topology Optimization Design of the Monocoque Bus Body Structure

Utilizing the monocoque bus body structure of low floor bus as the research object and the stress as constraint conditions, this paper developed the topology optimization model with the objective function of minimum structural mass under the horizontal bending conditions. Based on the results of topology optimization, a new bus body structure has been designed. This paper makes the finite element static analysis on the new body structure, which shows that its strength and stiffness meet the design requirements and that the topology is feasible. Further optimization of the body’s specific parameters can be put into effect to achieve the goal of the optimization in the design stage.
