Amorphous PbSe films: Growth and properties

Abstract The chemical deposition of amorphous lead selenide thin films is reported. The deposition method and the influence of isothermal annealing at 350 °C in air are discussed. The crystallization, the recrystallization and the changes in the electrical conductivity, in the optical properties and in the photoconductive behaviour produced by the structural modifications are investigated. An explanation is suggested for the existence of the spectral response maximum in the 1–2 μm range and also for the scatter in the properties of lead chalcogenide films grown in different laboratories.
