Cable Fault Detection Based on Traveling Wave

In this paper,the authors first analyzed the traveling wave mechanism of power cable fault,indicating that the cable fault traveling wave was formed and traveled on the distributed parameter circuit.They provided a special solution to the wave equation as well as the characteristics and nature of the cable fault traveling wave.Then they made a deep analysis of the current application of the traveling wave technique on cable fault detection,indicating the characteristics and existing problems of some cable fault detection methods based on traveling wave.Finally,in terms ofdeeply concealed high resistance fault the authors,based on experiences in measurement,provided some cable fault detection cases using the twice impulse process.
