ON INFRASOUND EVALUATION RADIATING FROM FREEWAY BRIDGE GENERATED BY A TRAVELLING LOAD

The paper presents an alaysis of the sound pressure level (S.P.L.) of a bridge/vehicle system by an average S.P.L. during the vehicle passage time and over the surface of the bridge. The dynamic response of the bridge forced by a travelling load is handled by means of the folded plate theory, and the S.P.L. of the bridge is formulated from the particle velocity equation. In order to check the method, tests of vibration induced by a passing truck were performed on a bridge; the results were analyzed and are compared to predictions.
