An Integrated Object-Oriented Approach to Telecommunications Service Engineering

Abstract The telecommunications industry is currently facing many challenges, due to the deregulation of its markets and the progressive convergence of telecommunications and distributed computing. Consequently, there is a growing demand for a great variety of new specialised services. TINA-C and OSA are the two most important architectural frameworks which promise to make the future open information market a reality. This paper compares these two frameworks and proposes an integrated approach for the development of new telecommunications services, which has the form of anarchitecture consisting of an object-oriented methodology for service design and provision and a service support environment.
