Improved Broadband Bandpass FSS Filters For 5G Applications

An improved broadband bandpass frequency selective surface (FSS) filter with double-square-loop (DSL) patch elements is described and demonstrated to have superior performance over the previous 3-layered FSS design. In addition to the significantly reduced passband insertion loss, the new FSS is much simpler in design and fabrication. It also has myriad applications in 5G wireless communication and high performance radome systems.
