Abstract: This chapter focuses on the aspects of making mobile applications and networks for public safety, especially those catering to emergency situations, context-aware. Making public safety systems context-aware would redefine how critical situations are handled today. This would enable a quick response to a situation, based on a holistic understanding of developments, as it unfolds. It is also critical that the system adapts to the limited resources and lean infrastructure available in order to function effectively.
