Simultaneous measurement of percent carboxyhemoglobin and functional oxygen saturation

To account for the effect of carboxyhemoglobin on pulse oximeters, the feasibility of simultaneously measuring the functional oxygen saturation and percent carboxyhemoglobin using the pulse oximetry technique was studied. A theoretical model was established, and an in-vitro experiment was carried out. Both the theoretical and experimental results show that the simultaneous measurement is feasible. It was found that the use of 630-nm light gives very good measurement accuracy.<<ETX>>
