Shafts misalignment is a common fault of rotating machine. Quantitative detection of shafts misalignment is the key for field alignment. A four-point quantitative detection method for misalignment fault is proposed in the paper. The principle of measurement and calculation of the method is expounded. The performance and effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation and experiment. Experimental results show that the four-point method can quantitatively detect both parallel and angular misalignment of shafts with reasonable precision, and in the mean time it has the advantageous of low computation volume, low cost and widespread adaptability in application.
