Distribution reliability assessment. Distribution power system reliability data collection

Summary form only given, as follows. This paper discusses data collection issues and systems for reliability analysis. Some key systems and processes are examined including creating and maintaining the connected model, outage management systems (OMS), automated mapping and facilities management systems (AM/FM/GIS), interruption data warehouses and mobile data systems. Once data is collected, further data scrubbing must be performed to ensure accuracy. One example of data scrubbing is an outage review team (ORT) review. The ORT analysis brings all the critical personnel involved in the process together to insure the data is correct and as needed, proactive action is taken to prevent recurring outages. The accuracy of the collected data and the processes employed to collect data greatly impact decision-making and comparative analysis. Understanding the potential shortcomings of the systems will enable better business decisions and benchmarking opportunities.
