Investigation and operation experience of Russian high pressure drum boilers under phosphate treatment

Phosphate treatment of boiler water successfully solves the problem of prevention of low heat-conducting hardness salt precipitation in boiler water wall tubes. At the same time, under certain conditions, this technology may lead to intensive iron phosphate deposit formation and corrosion of boiler tubes under deposits. High pressure drum boiler operating experience and results of special scientific investigations carried out in former USSR over a long period are discussed in this report. This data has allowed the formulation of optimum phosphate treatment to overcome the disadvantages mentioned above.
