The conditions and methods for on-site operation of optical current transducer(OCT) based on the principle of Faraday magneto-optical effect are researched,and a digital metering system in which OCT is taken as the core is proposed.Through long-term on-site tests in which OCT and traditional current transformer are operated in parallel,the experimental investigation on long-term operation stability of OCT is performed.Testing results show that the comprehensive error of the digital metering system composed of OCT is 1.013%;its operation is stable and the metering of electric energy is accurate and the obtained data are accurate and reliable,thus the proposed digital metering system can meet the demand of measurement verification specified in Chineses National Standard SD 109-83 and GB/T16934-1997.
