The hydrodynamic characteristics of a new liquid propellant rocket engine should be confirmed to be free from instability or hard start. Due to the transient behavior of engine start-up closely correlate with the hydrodynamics of propellant inlet pipe, the engine start-up should be carefully simulated and tested considering the variables such as length, cross sectional area, elasticity of the pipes. We observed the start-up transient characteristics of liquid propellant rocket engine with numerical simulation. The pressure fluctuation of inlet pressure and combustion pressure shows larger frequency and magnitude with longer pipes.
