An Implication for Design of Enterprise Information Systems from the Cultural Features on the User Behaviors at SNS Sites

Many kinds of spontaneous information systems can be found as the cultural characteristics of the user communities around SNS sites which many people use in the world. However, the users' activities are quite different in Japan and China. In China, most of the users are exchanging information actively and freely with strangers and friends on SNS sites, in contrast most of the users in Japan do not post. The difference in such a situation of users is originating from cultural difference and the social context of each country. Clarifying a difference of a spontaneous information system as causal relationship with the cultural characteristics brings many suggestion to an EIS design because the globalized EIS must include the various types of users and be used in the various social contexts under the various cultural environments. This paper considers the cultural features on the spontaneous information systems formed by these users through the behavior analysis of the users of each SNS site in Japan and China under the same Oriental Kulturkreis. And it discusses about an implication for EIS design under globalization.
