A novel fabrication and assembly method for synchronous reluctance machines

In this paper a comprehensive manufacturing and assembly process of Synchronous Reluctance Machines (SynRMs) is presented. One stator and two 7.5 hp transversally laminated anisotropic (TLA) SynRM rotors are manufactured. Different stages of manufacturing and assembly process as well as specialized components used at various stages of the process are described. Performance characteristics such as static torque-angle curves are obtained experimentally as well as analyzed in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to verify the accuracy of design, manufacturing, and assembly.
