FPGA Based Short-Range Targets Detection System with FMCW Radar

Aiming at the problem that there exists distance blind area for traditional pulsed radar so as to it cannot realize the detection of targets within short range. A solution based on the frequency-modulated continuous wave system is proposed to meet the demand of short-range targets detection. By adopting the zero intermediate frequency receiving scheme, using the transceiver split antennas, and with the frequency modulation continuous wave, the blind area ranging from Om to 150m is effectively achieved. In this paper, the principle of short-range targets detection is given and the signal processing process of FMCW radar implemented by FPGA with limited resources is emphatically introduced. The results of simulation and field test verify the feasibility of our system solution.
