ANALYSIS OF THE COPPER SURFACE MORPHOLOGY DURING THE CORROSION PROCESSES = ANALIZA MORFOLOGIJE BAKARNE POVRŠINE U TOKUKOROZIONIH PROCESA

Applying scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDX) morphological changes and quantitative composition of the copper surface were analyzed during the copper corrosion in acidic sulphate solution without and with the tested corrosion inhibitors. Investigations were conducted in the presence of three corrosion inhibitors: 5-(5'-methylfurfurylidene-2')-2,4-dioxotetrahydro-1,3-thiazole (MFDT) and 2-thiono-5-(4'-ethoxybenzylidene)-4-oxotetrahydro-1,3-thiazole (TEBOT) 5(4’-dimetylaminobenzylidene)-2,4-dioxotetrahydro-1,3-thiazole (DABDT). Results of SEM/EDX analysis showed that used solution leads to morphological changes of the copper surfaces. Analysis of the morphology and microstructure of the copper surface indicating that inhibitor in comparison to the corrosive solutions could reduce corrosion damage on the metal surface. The most effective corrosion protection is registered in the presence DABDT, and the weakest in the presence of MFDT.
