The research and implementation of PIM-SMv2 based on Linux kernel over IPv6

With the development of the network technology, PIM-SMv2 protocol acted as a feasible telecommunication technology, gains wide application and development. This paper discusses the performing principles of PIM-SMv2 protocol in detail, describes how PIM-SMv2 protocol building unidirectional share trees rooted at a Rendezvous Point per group. This paper presented the realization project of IPv6 multicast technology using PIM-SMv2 in Linux OS relies on user interface and system kernel, designed realization mechanism and kernel function flow chart. In addition, the test results in a simulate circumstance are given, which testify validity and feasibility of the paper. PIM-SMv2 protocol provides a new technology for IP multicast telecommunication, optimizes the network performance greatly, will be successful development.
