Electronic supply chain, often called e-supply chain integrates the ecommerce with the supply chain. The supply chain spans a source, distributor, retailer and the end customer. With the evolution of the World Wide Web, the components of the supply chain often referred as ‘players’ in the book, exchange vital information over the internet, leading to the paradigm of i-supply chain. The ‘i’ factor is absorbed throughout this book. Before placing the aforementioned vital information or the data over the internet, it is required to process the same in to a useable form. It requires a spectrum of data processing techniques introduced in different chapters of this book. To start with, this chapter blends the distinct technologies of World Wide Web and the signal processing. Rest of the chapters in the book extensively makes use of the concepts introduced here. abstract
