Abstract This paper is a case study of how visually interactive discrete event simulation was used to model an automated warehouse environment. The background to why simulation was used is explained along with the approach taken. The paper highlights the benefits of this modelling approach as a communication tool at all levels in an organisation and attempts to show how these benefits often exceeded the analytical benefits of the model.
