Cellulolytic and keratinophilic fungi recorded on birds.

An analysis has been made of the fungi recorded on feathers removed from living birds and incubated in moist chambers. Penicillium spp. and Oidiodendron spp. were the most widespread and the most frequently observed fungi, while Chrysosporium spp. and Arthroderma curreyi, although frequently recorded, were not as widespread. In general there were some differences between the fungi present on birds with different feeding habits, while there was a marked association between A. curreyi and Turdus spp., and between Chrysosporium spp. and Procellaria puffinus.
