Mental Workload Measurement in Air Traffic Control

Air traffic control seeks to ensure the safe, orderly and expeditious flow of air traffic. Air space is finite, but the number and variety of aircraft requiring air traffic control services is increasing and will continue to do so. Packing more aircraft into the same air space leads to strategic rather than tactical planning, to less flexibility of manoeuvres, to less time to recognise and resolve problems, and to more constraints in evolving solutions to problems.
