Speakers Find Value in Workshop Participation

Abstract Recruiting speakers for the FORWARD workshops proved to be easy because passionate faculty members, administrators, and other experienced professionals were eager to share their experiences and advice with potential new faculty members from underrepresented groups. Funding agency program managers were enthusiastic about guiding potential new grantees through their submission and review processes. Former participants returned faithfully as motivated speakers since they appreciated the information they had learned, knew they would learn more with each workshop, and found value in connecting with the participants. For some speakers, connections made at the workshops allowed them to further their own careers.
