Fairness guaranteed joint CRE and eICIC scheme for capacity improvement in two-tier heterogeneous networks

A joint cell range expansion (CRE) and enhanced inter-cell interference coordination (eICIC) scheme is proposed to enhance the capacity of two-tier heterogeneous networks. Optimal CRE bias and almost blank subframe ratio solutions are achieved by considering the fairness of users at the centre and cell edge. Capacity improvement is verified through extended results.
