This study analyzed activity environment based on lifestyle types for prevention of the locomotive syndrome. After categorizing residents based on activities of daily living and physical activity levels, the following five lifestyle types were identified: TV type; Hobby type; Housework type; Social type; and Exercise type. The amount and intensity of physical activity were significantly different by lifestyle types. The results of the new suburban town and the urban area were different. The findings in the present study provide fundamental knowledge regarding the relationship between lifestyle types and neighborhood environments.
