Combining Transfer and Cleaning of Cotton Fiber

ABSTRACT A mechanical system of simultaneously transporting cotton lint from the gin stand to the bale press while cleaning the cotton lint is under development in the laboratory. The new mechanical transport and cleaning system eliminates the need for a separate pneumatic transport system. Elimination of pneumatic cotton lint transport will reduce gin energy costs and particulate emission problems. In addition, tests have shown that the mechanical system has the potential of doing less cot-ton fiber damage than systems presently being used.
