Internal Quality Attributes of the Florida Valencia Orange and Their Relationship to Fruit Density Measurements

A study was undertaken to measure internal quality attributes, i.e., °Brix, acid, percent juice, and total yield as a function of maturity level for the Florida 'Valencia' orange. These attributes were compared to an inferential quality indicator, fruit density. Brix and yield both showed significant correlation with density, 1% and 5% level, respectively. The same properties, Brix and yield, were negatively correlated with fruit size.
