Pattern Reconfigurable Dielectric Resonator Antenna Using Multi-Feed technique for LTE and Wi-Fi Applications

This study aims to design a multi feed rectangular dielectric resonator antenna (DRA). The parameter of rectangular dielectric resonator antenna is obtained by using the dielectric waveguide model (DWM). The dielectric cuboid is made of ceramic material with high relative permittivity of 30. The antenna design used simple two microstrip feed lines reside above a FR4 substrate. However, each port has different radiation pattern. The proposed antenna is suitable for LTE and Wi-Fi applications. This work has been implemented based on CST Microwave Studio and verified via prototype fabrication. The achieved impedance bandwidth is 862 MHz and the radiation efficiency is 88.7%.
