DEVELOPMENT OF A STEAM-POWERED, FREE-PISTON AIR COMPRESSOR.

Abstract : Development of a steam-driven, free-piston air compressor is described. A single-piston version of the unit has been designed and constructed. Preliminary test operation has shown the feasibility of the concept. A computer program has been developed as an aid in studying the performance characteristics and design aspects of the compressor. Correlation of the computer program with the compressor operation has been established. (Author)
