Monitoring of chromatic dispersion for 10 Gbit/s RZ modulation using asynchronous sampling

We describe a low cost method to distinguish RZ and NRZ data and monitor for the presence of chromatic dispersion via a simple asynchronous delay-tap method which does not require clock extraction.
