AutoCad Simulations and Experiments on the Manufacturing of Gears

The paper presents some of the results of two student projects regarding the experimental and theoretical simulations of the manufacturing process of gears with different profile displacements. A dedicated experimental stall with a toothed rack (Maag) tool was achieved. The experimental simulations of the manufacturing process were matched by the theoretical calculus using the classical equations of teeth with evolventic profile and, more interesting, by the results obtained performing an AUTOCAD simulation of the process. The paper also stresses on the fine performances of undergraduate students involvement in research groups, with stimulating results for their career-to-be.
