Image Display and Analysis Systems

Conceptually, display and analysis systems consist of four major compoents: data acquisition, data processing, information products, and judgment. The systems concept of display and analysis is described in detail by Green (1983). Suomi (1977) pointed out that this technology is really only a tool and the human mind provides the vital element—reaction to the information presented. The fundamental concept of a display and analysis system is to convert data into useful information. The complexity and capabilities of each system are determined by technology, functional requirements, and financial resources. When all aspects and requirements are fully considered and met, the end result is an optimal system.
