As the last 15 years have shown, this is a very accurate observation. But in the last couple of years the big wheels have completed another full revolution and given us a radically new operating system: Windows NT. Radically new? Well, Windows NT can’t (and won’t) deny its ancestors — quite to the contrary: both the look and feel and the API* definition by Microsoft, conform as much as possible to previous Windows systems. On the other hand, the NT system code is all new and is completely 32-bit based; OS design and implementation are quite different from anything else in the ever-growing MS zoo of operating systems.
