A practical approach to randomised pulse-width modulation

When a switched-mode power device has to use a random pulse-width modulation (RPWM) but no digital signal processing is necessary it is possible to control the pulse turn-on position by instantly generated (pseudo) random sequence. With the help of simulation the impact of such sequences on the spectrum harmonics has been investigated and conclusions have been made. A program for automated hardware realization of such sequences has been suggested and used for the purpose of simulation. Generated descriptions are in electronic device interchange format (EDIF) and can be converted in circuits for use in field-programmable gate arrays (FPGA).
