Chaos-based flow control mechanism for ABR service

Traffic management is important in asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) networks. This paper presents a new flow control method for the available bit rate (ABR) service category based on chaotic control and prediction as well as the ATM feedback control mechanism to eliminate the negative effect of self similarity in ATM traffic by converting the available bandwidth into periodic bandwidth. Simulation results show that the method more efficiently improves system performance than EFCI.
