Hardware Minimization of Videotex or Teletext Decoders By Exploitation of Display Redundancy

The paper shows how, at the various levels of broadcast Teletext or Interactive Videotex service, the natural redundancy inherent in the display has been exploited so that useful savings can be made in the receiving terminals. These savings manifest themselves as simplifications in display chip architecture and as a reduction in the quantity of Display RAM necessary to achieve a given standard of display. The resulting terminal cost reduction can only improve the general acceptance of a given level of service.
