A study of the relationship between identification and optimization in adaptive control problems

Abstract An examination of some of the properties of identification as it applies to adaptive control systems is made by means of a study of a simple linear system. In particular, attention is focused on the manner in which the performance criterion effects the learning procedure of the controller.
