A design scheme of integrated power modules for switched mode power supplies based on discrete devices is presented in the paper, including 2 types of modules for soft switching power factor correction circuit and phase shifted full bridge soft switching circuit. Power switches and some driving components are integrated in the modules. A multilayer structure is adopted resulting in compact circuit layout and reduced parasitic parameters, the voltage and current stresses on switches as well as the EMI of the circuit are significantly reduced. The modules have lower thermal resistance and higher reliability due to their double side heat dissipitation features. Full load experiments have been carried out to validate the design and evaluate its performances.
