A Microprocessor-Based Novel Scheme for Constant Angle Triggering of Thyristors Under a Variable Frequency Anode Supply

A novel microprocessor-based scheme for constant angle triggering of thyristors operating under a variable frequency anode supply is described. The triggering angle is controllable by microcomputer software. The system has fast response to changes in anode supply frequency. The firing angle given to the microprocessor is kept constant irrespective of the changes in anode supply frequency. The firing scheme is implemented using the Intel SDK-85 microprocessor development scheme.
