Micro-Project Based Curriculum Design and Teaching Practice for Modern Engineering Education in China

This paper studies the reform of teaching method for specialized course based on eDID concept. Taking the curriculum the principle of remote sensors in remote sensing science and technology as an example, the course design and practical methods based on micro-projects were studied. The carefully designed micro-projects containing complicated engineering problems were adopted and became an important part of teaching activities for students and teachers. During the implementation of the micro-project, the roles of teacher and students were reversed. Students became the center of the entire teaching/learning activities to carry out the project conceiving, designing, implementing and operating. Teachers' focus shifted from traditional classroom lecturing to answering puzzles and leading students to do analytical reasoning and problem solving. The micro-project teaching method was practiced among 90 undergraduate students of remote sensing science and technology in Wuhan University. A questionnaire survey was designed to evaluate the teaching effect.
