Investigation of the high excitation 8Be region

The differential cross section of the 6Li(d, alpha )4He reaction has been measured at deuteron incident energies between 18.2 and 44.5 MeV. The energy dependence of the Cl/C0 coefficients deduced from the Legendre-polynomial analysis of the angular distributions and the behaviour of the integral cross section indicate the possible existence of highly excited 8Be levels at Ex approximately=41, 43 and 50 MeV.
