Formal Methodology of Translation. I. Semantic Preserving Translations

In this paper we present a methodology of translation from a given source language to a given target language. From syntactic and semantic considerations of the source and target languages, conditions are developed to assure correctness of the translator. It is proven that these conditions form a minimal set to prove correctness of the translator.
