Indirect matrix converter open circuit fault detection and diagnosis with model predictive control strategy

This paper presents a novel error-voltage-based open-circuit fault detection and diagnosis method for an Indirect Matrix Converters(IMC) using a Finite-Control-Set Model Predictive Control(FCS-MPC) strategy with the aim of fast and reliable fault detection. The operation inverter stage and rectifier stage of the Matrix Converter under an open-circuit fault condition are analyzed. Simulation results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed fault detection method.
